GREEN4AGEING

Materials engineering using green and emerging technologies for biomedical applications

GREEN4AGEING project will develop innovative materials using green technologies especially adapted to the demands from the healthcare system linked to the ageing of the population, specifically intended for regenerative medicine, management of chronic wounds and adherence in polymedicated patients.

Advanced materials will be obtained by deploying a translational research platform to establish genuine processing methods adapted to the specific applications. These products can significantly contribute to find scientific-technological solutions to the specific challenge Health, Demographic Changes and Welfare of the Spanish Strategy of Science and Technology and Innovation and aligned with the specific H2020 area of the European Commission.

This project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MCIUN) [RTI2018‐094131‐A‐I00], Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) and FEDER funds.

What we do

GREEN4AGEING targets materials endowed with improved performance and enhanced durability to become the next-generation of safe, predictable and reproducible medical products specifically intended for regenerative medicine, management of chronic wounds and adherence in polymedicated patients.

Impact

To improve the quality of life of the Spanish geriatric population.

To reduce the sociosanitary costs in Spain that already represents 6% of the GDP.

Advanced materials

Products with spatial control of the texture, morphology and composition will be obtained by establishing genuine processing methods adapted to the specific applications.

Technology

Genuine green technologies especially adapted to the specific demands of the project.

Novel methods of characterization, modelling and optimization of the materials properties.

Interdisciplinarity

Project team from different disciplines (materials science, pharmacy, chemistry, biomedical technology, microbiology and process engineering) and sectors (companies as external advisors).

Collaborations

In the frame of this project, the research team has established contacts with renowned international experts from Europe and worldwide

Dissemination

Participation in scientific international events and scientific publications in Q1-journals

Training of young researchers in key enabling technologies
